Why Bulk Domain Checking Matters

Whether you are a domain investor evaluating a portfolio, a brand manager checking name variations across TLDs, or a startup team narrowing down a shortlist — checking domains one at a time wastes valuable time. Most domain search tools only let you check one name at a time. When you have a list of 5, 10, or more candidates, that means repeating the same process over and over: entering a name, waiting for results, noting the outcome, and starting again.

The Domainwise bulk domain checker solves this problem by letting you check up to 10 domains simultaneously. This guide walks you through every input method, explains how to read results, and shows you how to export your findings or save favorites to your watchlist. If you are looking to generate creative name ideas first, start with our Domainwise search guide, then come back here to bulk-check your shortlist.

When You Need Bulk Checking

Bulk domain checking is the right approach whenever you have a specific list of domains you want to evaluate rather than generating new name ideas. Common use cases include:

  • Domain investors evaluating expiring domains, auction candidates, or portfolio acquisitions. Paste a list from a marketplace and get instant availability status.
  • Brand managers verifying that a company or product name is available across key TLDs like .com, .dev, .io, and country-code extensions.
  • Web agencies checking domains for multiple client projects in a single session rather than switching between separate searches.
  • Startup teams comparing a shortlist of name ideas that emerged from brainstorming sessions.
  • SEO consultants checking keyword-rich domain availability for content or affiliate projects.

For all of these scenarios, the Domainwise bulk checker handles the tedious work of checking each domain individually and presents all results in a single, organized view.

Step 1: Open the Bulk Checker

Navigate to domainwise.dev/bulk or click Bulk Check from the navigation on any Domainwise page. No account or sign-up is required — the tool is completely free to use.

Step 2: Enter Your Domains

The bulk checker accepts up to 10 fully qualified domain names (for example, example.com, mybrand.dev, startup.io). You have five different input methods to choose from depending on how your domain list is formatted:

  • Paste (one per line) — Type or paste domain names separated by line breaks. This is the simplest method when you have a short list.
  • Paste (comma-separated) — Paste a comma-separated list like example.com, example.net, example.dev. Ideal when copying from spreadsheets or chat messages.
  • CSV file import — Upload a .csv file containing domain names. The checker reads the domain column automatically.
  • TXT file import — Upload a .txt file with one domain per line. Simple and universal.
  • Drag and drop — Drag a CSV or TXT file directly onto the input area. The fastest method when you have your list saved as a file.

Once your domains are loaded, click Check All to run availability checks on all of them simultaneously.

Step 3: Review Your Results

After clicking Check All, results appear for each domain in your list. Every result displays three key pieces of information:

  • Availability statusAvailable (green) means the domain is unregistered and ready to purchase. Taken (red) means it is currently registered. Unknown (gray) means the check timed out or the TLD registry did not respond.
  • Estimated registration price — For available domains, Domainwise shows pricing from its multi-registrar comparison engine covering 6+ global registrars including Namecheap, GoDaddy, Porkbun, Cloudflare, Dynadot, and Name.com.
  • Registrar links — Click any registrar link to go directly to their registration page and complete the purchase.

If a domain shows Unknown status, wait a few seconds and retry. RDAP providers sometimes rate-limit queries, and a second attempt usually succeeds. Available domains are highlighted for quick visual identification so you can scan your results at a glance.

Step 4: Export Your Results

Click Export CSV to download all bulk check results as a spreadsheet-ready file. The CSV export includes the domain name, availability status, and prices by registrar — everything you need for record-keeping or sharing with your team.

The exported CSV can be imported directly into Google Sheets, Microsoft Excel, or any spreadsheet application. This is especially useful for agencies who need to present domain options to clients, or for teams who want to discuss results asynchronously. Keep the CSV file as a snapshot of availability at the time of the check — domain availability can change quickly, so re-check before making a final decision.

Step 5: Save Favorites to My Domains

Click the save icon on any result to add it to your My Domains watchlist. My Domains is your personal domain tracking list with powerful management features:

  • Batch re-check — Re-check availability of all saved domains at once to see if anything has changed.
  • Export — Save your list as JSON, CSV, or TXT for backup or sharing.
  • Import — Load a previously exported domain list to continue tracking.
  • Quick registration links — Click through to registrar purchase pages directly from your saved list.

All saved domains are stored in your browser's localStorage — Domainwise never uploads your data to any server. Use My Domains as a long-term tracking list for domains you are considering, and re-check periodically to monitor availability changes.

Tips for Effective Bulk Checking

Get the most out of the bulk checker with these practical strategies:

  • Generate candidates first — Use the Domainwise name generator with pattern modes and supplementary words to brainstorm creative names, then bulk-check your favorites.
  • Include TLD variations — Check the same brand name across multiple extensions (e.g., brandname.com, brandname.dev, brandname.io) to compare options and secure alternatives.
  • Handle Unknown results — If a domain shows Unknown status, retry after a few seconds. The RDAP protocol sometimes rate-limits queries, and a second attempt usually resolves the issue.
  • Combine with WHOIS — For domains that show as Taken, use the Domainwise WHOIS lookup to check expiry dates. An expiring domain might become available soon.
  • Check during off-peak hours — If you encounter rate limits on multiple retries, try again during off-peak hours when registry servers handle less traffic.

Bulk domain checking fits naturally into a larger workflow: generate names with the search tool, bulk-check your shortlist, save the best candidates to My Domains, then register when you are ready. For a full walkthrough of the registration process, see our domain registration guide.
